GDANSK, Poland -- Spain striker Fernando Torres says Russias exit from the European Championship has provided a "wake-up call" for the defending champions. Ray Rice White Jersey . Russia was eliminated Saturday after a 1-0 loss to Greece, a team that allowed early goals in its first two Group A matches at Euro 2012. Torres says "you have to have respect for the opponent" and that "it was a good wake-up call for us." Spain goes into Mondays game at the Arena Gdansk knowing a draw or win over Croatia puts it into the quarterfinals. Spain and Croatia both have four points while Italy has two in Group C. Torres, who scored twice in a 4-0 rout of Ireland, says his confidence is growing after coming to Poland and Ukraine after an irregular season at Chelsea. Jacoby Jones Black Jersey .C. -- John Huston shot a 6-under 66 on Saturday for a share of the second-round lead with Nick Price and Kenny Perry in the Champions Tours SAS Championship. Torrey Smith Elite Jersey . But this time there was a happy ending for the MLS cellar-dwellers. In addition to the Rams, hes also spent time with Arizona -- for whom he started 11 games in 2010 -- as well as New England and Philadelphia. For his career, hes caught 22 passes for 137 yards with no touchdowns. HOUSTON -- Philadelphias recent surge was slowed by an unlikely foe. Pinch-hitter Jed Lowrie delivered a two-run double in the eighth inning and the lowly Houston Astros stung Philadelphia, rallying for a 6-4 victory Thursday night that ended the Phillies seven-game winning streak. That run had pushed the Phillies within three games of St. Louis for the second NL wild-card spot. "The percentages in baseball, sooner or later you are going to get beat," Philadelphia manager Charlie Manuel said. "At the same time, I didnt mean for it to happen tonight. We had a chance to win the game, it was sitting right in front of us. The bottom line is that we didnt add on runs, but we didnt execute either." Philadelphia couldnt hold an early 4-0 lead. Lowries two-out hit put the Astros ahead 5-4. "We had opportunities and Lowrie got a big hit for him," Philadelphias Ryan Howard said. Matt Dominguez hit a three-run homer for Houston, which has the worst record in the majors. Philadelphias bullpen had pitched four scoreless innings after an early exit by starter Tyler Cloyd before running into trouble in the eighth. Phillippe Aumont (0-1) took over in the eighth with a 4-3 lead and walked Jason Castro with one out. Pinch-runner Jordan Schafer was caught stealing on a strong throw by catcher Erik Kratz from his knees. But Aumont walked Dominguez and plunked pinch-hitter Scott Moore on the foot. Aumont pitched in both games of a doubleheader on Sunday and in each of the last three games. "That is a lot of pitching for him, and I did feel like he was out of gas," Manuel said. "The more he stayed out there, you could see that he didnt have the stuff he had yesterday." Jake Diekman, the fifth Phillies reliever of the game, gave up Lowries hit that stopped a string of 21 consecutive scoreless innings pitched by Philadelphias bullpen. Brandon Barnes pushed the lead to 6-4 with an RBI single. Wesley Wright (1-2) got the last two outs of the eighth for the win. Wilton Lopez allowed a hit in a scoreless ninth for his fifth save. For the Astros, it was a bright spot in this mostly dreadful season. "Theres a lot of satisfaction in that," Wright said of beating a team in post-season contention. "They come with a lot on the line and we have a chance to kind of derail that and fiinish the season on a positive note. Courtney Upshaw Jersey. So its a good victory all the way around." Kratz broke an 0-for-16 skid with an RBI double to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead in the second. The Phillies scored three times in the third. Juan Pierre and Chase Utley hit consecutive one-out singles and Howard had a sacrifice fly. John Mayberry Jr. and Kevin Frandsen added RBI singles. Justin Maxwell and Castro hit consecutive singles in the fourth before Dominguezs shot. The drive broke an 0-for-13 streak for Dominguez and was his third three-run homer in the last seven games. Houston starter Lucas Harrell allowed seven hits and four runs in 5 2-3 innings to remain winless since Aug. 14. Pinch-hitter Pete Orr singled with two outs in the sixth and Harrell issued consecutive walks to load the bases. Harrell was lifted after the second walk, and jawed at plate umpire Bill Miller on his way to the dugout and was ejected. "The competitiveness of wanting to win kind of got a hold of me today and I let my emotions run a little bit," Harrell said, adding that he thought he pitched "horrible." He was replaced by Xavier Cedeno, who retired Utley to end the threat. Cloyd yielded five hits and three runs in three-plus innings. Cloyd retired his first six batters before Jimmy Paredes singled to start the third. Jose Altuve hit a two-out single and Cloyd hit Fernando Martinez with a pitch to load the bases before getting Brett Wallace on a grounder. It was the second tough start for Cloyd, who had his contract purchased from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Aug. 29. He allowed eight hits and four runs in four innings of his last start, but received a no-decision. NOTES: Frandsen was back in the lineup after missing seven starts with a sore left ankle. ... Houstons Bud Norris was scratched from Fridays start because of a blister on the index finger of his pitching hand. The Astros have a six-man rotation, so each pitcher will simply be moved up a game. RHP Edgar Gonzalez will start on Friday against Philadelphia LHP Cole Hamels. ... Astros reliever Mickey Storey was OK a day after being hit on the side of the face by a line drive which glanced off his hand and shoulder before striking him in the face. He said before the game that hes a bit sore but feels lucky that the injury wasnt worse. ' ' '

The Phillies treated an injury to Howards left foot last Sept. 18 with a cortisone shot, an ailment the club termed as bursitis. Less than three weeks later, Howard tore his left Achilles tendon while running to first base after his final at-bat of the season. That injury has kept the three-time All-Star and former MVP, who signed a five-year, $125 million extension in 2010, out all season. "I wanted to clear up some of the insinuations regarding a cortisone shot," Amaro said Sunday during Philadelphias game against Boston. Amaro was responding to a story in Sundays Philadelphia Inquirer suggesting that the cortisone shot may have contributed to the Achilles injury. A doctor in the Inquirer report was quoted as saying, "When it comes to the risk of an Achilles tendon tear, Im concerned about cortisone." Amaro said the Phillies always put their players first. "Were probably one of the most conservative clubs in baseball in administering treatment, and we always want to make sure we have the players best interest," Amaro said. ' ' '

"Im expected to play, and Ill do everything Ive got to do in the training room to be out there," Johnson said, referring to his expectations of playing in the season opener at the New York Jets on Sunday. Though saying he cant divulge too much about the injury, Johnson said he is fully prepared to return to practice on Friday. Johnson said the injury happened during practice Wednesday, and added that its something he expected to occur occasionally after having surgery in May to repair a groin injury that nagged him for much of last season. Johnson also complained of stiffness in his groin during training camp. He didnt consider this a setback, and doesnt expect to have to deal with lingering pain throughout the season as he did last year. "Itll definitely be gone, and nothing we should really have too much to worry about," Johnson said. Johnsons status is a prime concern for Buffalo, because he is the teams leading receiver and expected to play a critical role in Buffalos multi-pronged passing attack. He led the Bills with seven touchdowns and 1,004 yards receiving to become the franchiises first player to surpass the 1,000-yard receiving mark in consecutive seasons.Jacquizz Rodgers Womens Jersey. He also faces a daunting test against the Jets, when hell likely be matched up against Darrelle Revis, one of the NFLs top cornerbacks. Johnson had success against Revis in two losses last year, combining for 11 catches for 159 yards and a touchdown. Bills coach Chan Gailey was cautiously optimistic that Johnson would be able to play Sunday. "A guy doesnt practice on Thursday, theres always concern, but I think its going to be OK," he said. "He couldve gone out there today, but we kept him in." After riding a stationary bike before practice began, Johnson stood by and watched as receivers took part in individual drills during the portion open to reporters. In other injury news, starting right guard Kraig Urbik (back) practiced on a limited basis after missing the session Wednesday. Rookie cornerback Ron Brooks was on crutches and had his broken right foot in a cast in making his first appearance in the locker room since having surgery last week. Brooks was placed on short-term injured reserve on Tuesday, meaning hell be eligible to begin practicing in six weeks. Brooks, the second of Buffalos two fourth-round draft picks, didnt have a timetable for how long it might take him to recover. ' ' '
BALTIMORE -- The four-day break for the All-Star game did absolutely nothing to slow the momentum of the resurgent Detroit Tigers. Ray Lewis White Jersey . Miguel Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta homered, Doug Fister pitched seven innings of three-hit ball, and Detroit beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-2 on Friday night for its sixth straight victory. Brennan Boesh had two RBIs for the Tigers, who moved three games over .500 (45-42) for the first time since April 24, when they were 10-7. "We had a little break from each other, saw our families and did whatever we needed to do for a few days," Fister said. "We came back, reconvened, and we played well together. Thats the biggest key for us." Eight players totalled 13 hits for the Tigers, who went 4 for 8 with runners in scoring position and scored six of their seven runs with two outs. "Everybody came out hot and we were swinging the bats well," Fister said. Cabrera hit his 19th home run in the fifth inning, a majestic drive to centre off Luis Ayala that travelled an estimated 454 feet and provided Detroit with a 4-1 lead. Four batters later, Peralta hit a three-run, opposite-field shot to right off Dana Eveland. Fister (3-6) gave up one run, struck out eight and walked none to earn his first road win in seven tries this season. Fister, who retired 12 straight at one point, has won two straight starts after dropping three in a row. "It was a good way to start," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "He had little bit of a tough first half physically. I wanted to show a little confidence in him. I thought it was good to get him out there right off the bat and he responded very well." Detroits Delmon Young had two hits and scored a run, but his streak of games with at least one home run ended at four, one short of the club record. Orioles starter Jason Hammel (8-6) left in the fourth inning with a right knee injury. After throwing a pitch to Boesh, Hammel came off the mound awkwardly. He took a few practice throws before being removed by manager Buck Showalter. Its the same knee that has been bothering Hammel for much of the season, and the Orioles can only hope the right-hander wont miss much time. Hammel, Baltimores winningest pitcher, allowed two runs and five hits in three-plus innings. He has lost his last four starts. "I was driving toward the plate and it didnt feel good," Hammel said. "Something felt really bad. Its the same area as the injury was before. Its kind of just day to day. We scheduled an MRI for (Saturday) and well find out more, but as of right now, we dont really know whats going on here." Like Hammel, Baltimore is experiencing a substantial drop off following a surprisingly strong start. The Orioles have lost seven of 10 and are 6-14 in their last 20 games. Sidelined with a wrist injury since May 29, Baltimores Nick Markakis returned to the lineup and hit in the leadoff spot for the first time in his career. He went 1 for 4 with a third-inning RBI. Baltimore scored its other run in the ninth when All-Star Matt Wieters doubled in All-Star Adam Jones. With Markakis back in right field, Chris Davis played left field in the majors for the first time. Showalter said he was willing to take the risk because Davis "makes up for it with his bat." Davis didnt make an error, but he didnt get a hit, either. The Tigers averaged 6.2 runs in the five games before the All-Star break, and in the first inning it became apparent that the four-day layoff did nothing to hamper their productivity. Three of the first four Detroit batters singled to load the bases, and a two-out single by Boesh made it 2-0. Baltimore ended the seasons first half by being shut out in consecutive games by the Angels, and the Orioles run of consecutive scoreless innings stretched to 24 until doubles by Wilson Betemit and Markakis made it 2-1 in the third. After Hammel left in the fourth, Ayala retired the first two batters before giving up successive doubles to Alex Avila and Ryan Raburn. WINNIPEG -- Winnipeg quarterback Buck Pierce says the CFL should have done more to punish the player whose hit left him with what has been diagnosed as a mild concussion. Ray Rice Vapor Jersey . "I think it was a cheap shot and I think it was dirty," Pierce said Tuesday night of the way Toronto Argonaut linebacker Brandon Isaac rammed his helmet into his chin Saturday. "Its not the way the game should be played and obviously Im upset about that." Pierce said there should have been a fine or suspension in addition to the 15-yard penalty for roughing the passer. He said he viewed it as a deliberate attempt to injure. It took him out of the game Winnipeg lost 29-10. "If a player goes out to attempt to injure then I think that it completely goes against the fibre of this game and what this game stands for." Winnipeg coach Tim Burke said earlier in the day it wasnt certain whether Pierce could play Monday when the Bombers meet the Alouettes in Montreal. "He has one more test that he has to clear before hell be cleared to play," Burke said. "He will be evaluated tomorrow and if it goes another day hell be evaluated after that, so however long it takes for him to pass that test is when hes able to play." After the hit Pierce went to the dressing room but returned for a few plays before again leaving the field. He reported a headache initially that didnt go away. Pierce said Tuesday night he now feels fine but he has to defer to the experts about when he can return to the field. Burke said hes heard nothing from the CFL about any action against Isaac over the hit. It was only Pierces second game since returning from a foot injury that sidelined him July and Burke said it was naturally disappointing to see him hurt again. "Very disappointing in the respect that he would have to take a hit like that No. 1," said Burke. "I dont know how many people would have come away from that hit without having some kind of an injury. "Fortunately, its a mild concussion and not anything really bad or anything like that. Its nothing thats a career-ender by any stretch of the imagination." There have been calls for Pierce to hang up his cleats over this, his latest in a series of injuries, but Burke says thats a choice the player must make for himself. "Career decisions are up to Buck, not up to anybody else," said Burke. Pierce declined to discuss how many concussions he may have had in his career. If Pierce doesnt play Monday, Burke said backup Joey Elliott will take his place. And he said if Pierce isnt cleared to play soon, they may have to make that decision regardless. "If it goes on towards the end of the week and he hasnt passed it (the test), there comes a point where you have to say `Were going with Joey." The 3-10 Bombers have lost any but a faint statistical chance of making the CFL post-season. Pierce said the integrity of the game is on the line when such things happen. "Theres going to be hits like this throughout the course of the season . . . I just wish it was dealt with in a timely manner," he said. "Im glad they assessed it as a flag but it has to be a bit stricter punishment when it comes to these things." Justin Tucker Jersey . Starting pitcher Brett Cecil was solid in a tough-luck defeat, permitting just two runs and fanning eight batters over the first six innings. ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young is still in exile. Young wasnt at practice Tuesday and his status remains very much in doubt. He was deactivated for the Lions 34-31 loss to Houston on Thanksgiving for what coach Jim Schwartz described as "unacceptable" behaviour during the previous weekends loss to Green Bay. Schwartz didnt provide any detail Tuesday on when Young might return. "Well reevaluate that as we go and again, well decide based on his behaviour getting him back with the team and getting him possibly back in a role," Schwartz said. "Its more when he gets back with the team -- if he gets back with the team -- but its more when he gets back and the behaviour that he does then." Schwartz was asked if he thinks Young has played his last game as a Lion, but the coach said that kind of talk is premature. "I think its way too soon to tell," Schwartz said. "But its definitely going to be in his court when it comes to his actions." Young, a second-year receiver out of Boise State, has 33 catches for 383 yards and four touchdowns this season. Although Youngs future is uncertain, the Lions can expect to have star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh in the lineup when they host Indianapolis on Sunday. The NFL said Monday that Suh wouldnt be suspended after his foot caught Houston quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin area. Suh was on his chest after being taken down by an offensive lineman and extended his left foot to hit Schaub below the belt. Schaub went to his knees, doubled over in pain, but stayed in the game. The Texans went on to win in overtime. It wassnt clear from replays whether Suh meant to kick Schaub, and the defensive lineman hasnt spoken publicly about the play. Dennis Pitta Jersey. "I dont think it was any big news that he wasnt going to be suspended. I thought that his play was within the natural course of the game," Schwartz said. "What I saw was his head was down and away from that play. In my mind you would have to have eyes in the back of your head to be able to do it, but that games over with." The Lions (4-7) have lost three straight. They moved the ball well at times without Young last week -- rookie Ryan Broyles had six catches for 126 yards, giving Detroit another dangerous threat alongside Calvin Johnson. Matthew Stafford threw for 441 yards. Broyles said hes been in touch with Young recently but didnt want to comment further on his teammates situation. "Weve got the tools," Broyles said. "Weve got the quarterback and weve got the system to make plays, and weve just got to make one more." Schwartz, meanwhile, is still taking heat for throwing a challenge flag after a long Houston touchdown run. The play was subject to an automatic review, but because Schwartz threw his flag, he was hit with a 15-yard penalty and the review was negated -- giving the Texans a TD that replays showed shouldnt have counted. "I wish I had taken a shoe off and thrown it like that guy did to President Bush that one time," Schwartz joked. "Or if I had a hat, if I wore a hat I could have thrown that ... or thrown the headset down. I mean, Ive smashed headsets before -- that would have been a much better solution there." ' ' '
PHILADELPHIA -- Peter Laviolette led the Flyers within two wins of a Stanley Cup championship. Frank Gore Youth Jersey . Philadelphia is willing to give their coach a few more years to finish the job. Laviolette and the Flyers agreed Wednesday to a two-year contract extension that will take him through the 2014-15 season. Philadelphia has the third-most wins in the Eastern Conference (122), behind only Pittsburgh and Washington (127 each) since Laviolette was hired to take over for John Stevens in December 2009. The Flyers needed a shootout victory in the final game of the 2010 season to make the playoffs. Once in, though, they stormed through a surprising run to the Cup finals as a No. 7 seed. Eventually, they lost in six games to Chicago. While the roster remains a work in progress -- Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren continues to reshape it with trades of one-time anchors like Mike Richards, Jeff Carter and James van Riemsdyk -- the stand behind the players, where the coach roams, is more than solid. Holmgren has remained a staunch supporter of Laviolette, even as the team has been bounced the last two seasons in Round 2. "I was really excited to come to a market like Philadelphia, and an organization like this with the history, the ownership, and working for Paul," Laviolette said. "Im as excited today as I was back then about being able to move forward. Theres a great group of players here and to come back and be able to continue to work here is where I want to be." Laviolette has compiled a 122-73-26 record since taking over Stevens. In 2010, the Flyers defeated the Devils, Bruins and Canadiens to reach the Finals. And in that second-round win over Boston, they even overcame an 0-3 series deficit. Regular seasons have not been a problem of late, either. The Flyers collected 47 wins in each of the last two years, but were knocked out in the East semifinals by Boston and New Jersey, respectively. They won only one game total in those two eliminations. Regardless, Holmgren said Laviolette has done "a terrific job" to earn the extension. "There was never a question that this wasnt going to get done," Holmgren said. "I am very happy to have it done. Peter is a tremendous coach in our league and he has done a tremendous job for the Flyers. I know that is going to continue. "He is a good man and very deserving of this." Laviolette, who also coached the Islanders for two seasons, was 167-130-30 in his four-plus seasons with Carolina. The Hurricanes fired him in December 2008 after he missed the playoffs two straight seasons after winning the Stanley Cup. The Flyers havent won a Cup since winning back-to-back crowns in 1974 and 1975. "I think it is going to be an exciting time to be building it back up from where we left off and adding the new players to the mix," Laviolette said. "I feel good about the players that we have under contract and moving forward." The Flyers, indeed, will have new players in the mix, if for no other reason, they had a rash of defections. Forward Jaromir Jagr signed with Dallas. Defenceman Matt Carle signed with Tampa Bay. And van Riemsdyk was traded to Toronto. Holmgren took one big swing and a miss, signing Nashville defenceman Shea Weber to an offer sheet last month. But the Predators matched the offer for the restricted free agent. The Flyers did re-sign forward Jakub Voracek last week, and the deal with the Maple Leafs netted defenceman Luke Schenn, who will be reunited with his brother, Brayden, a Philadelphia forward. But Philadelphia also lost out on the sweepstakes for free-agent prizes Zach Parise (forward), and Ryan Suter (defenceman), who both signed with Minnesota, and the Flyers still have questions on defence due to the uncertainty of Chris Pronger, who was limited to 13 games last season with injuries. "When you look at a guy like Shea Weber, there are probably a lot of teams that wish they had a player of his calibre on their club. Our team moved forward without Shea last year," Laviolette said. "We dealt with certain injuries and things that I think our club had to overcome. We used a lot of good, young defencemen and a lot of good players. I am excited about the players that we brought into the fold this year." Patrick Willis Elite Jersey . Now, the question is: Can the Vancouver Whitecaps duplicate it at a critical time in their season? After the Yankees opened the first MLB Power Rankings at No. 1, they seemed like an easy choice to go over 93 wins. Offensively, Rick Nash and Bobby Ryan are the two biggest trade pieces available. While the New York Rangers have been widely considered the frontrunners for Nash, the fact that both the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins failed to land Parise means these two powerhouse teams will now focus on Columbus and perhaps, engage in a bidding war that Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson predicted would happen once Zach Parise made his move. Joe Montana Womens Jersey . OTTAWA -- Freddie Hamilton is hoping three goals was enough to turn some heads at Hockey Canada. Courtney Upshaw Jersey . Hamiltons hat trick led the way for the Ontario Hockey League all-stars as they defeated Russia 10-7 on Thursday in Game 3 of the Subway Super Series. The 19-year-old is hoping the performance helps secure a spot on Canadas roster at the IIHF World Junior Championships in December. "It would be great to be a part of (the World Juniors)," said Hamilton. Hamiltons younger brother Dougie joined him on the ice and chipped in with two assists. The two brothers play for the Niagara IceDogs, and Freddie Hamilton said playing with Dougie in the all-star game was special. "I was really excited to play this game and to be part of this was a great experience," said Hamilton. "All these experiences have been fun with him around. We really support each other." In the eight-year history of the series the OHL was unbeaten against the Russians. That record looked in jeopardy as the OHL trailed the Russians 5-4 heading into the third, but a six-goal, third period outburst allowed the OHL to make it 17-0. "Its something pretty cool that weve done that," said Hamilton of the record. "To be a part of that is pretty fun." Hamiltons Niagara teammates Ryan Strome and Mark Scheifele scored twice, while Tanner Pearson, Nathan Chiarlitti and Seth Griffith also scored for the OHL. Ivan Telegin and Bulat Shavaleev led the way for the Russians with two goals each. Pavel Kulikov, Alex Khokhlachev and Nikita Gusev also scored. The Russians came in leading the series after defeating the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in the first two games. The Russians opened the scoring at the five-minute mark of the first, but the OHL replied with three consecutive goals, two on the power play, to take a 3-1 lead after the first period. The second period belonged to the Russians, who scored four goals. Telegin made it 3-2 scoring in the opening minutes of the period, but Hamilton scored his second of the night two minutes later to regain the two-goal lead for the OHL. From that point on the Russians dominated with goals by Khokhlachev, Gusev and another by Telegin. Nail Yakupov, a member of the Sarnia Sting and considered a potential first-overall pick in this summers NHL draft, had just two assists, but it was also his first game with the Russians. "It was tough because I didnt get to even have a practice with them," said Yakupov. "I told them this would be a hard game because these guys are the best in the OHL, but I think we played well." OHL goaltender Mark Visentin, who allowed three goals on 14 shots, was replaced by Andrew DAgostini midway through the period. DAgostini didnt fare much better, allowing two more goals before the end of the period. Russia made it 6-4 early in the third, but the OHL replied 16 seconds later with the first of six straight goals. "I think we played a little too passive in the second and tried to hold our lead," said Scheifele. "I felt we stepped it up in the third and played more aggressive, played more of our game and it was good." Russian goalie Sergey Kostenko was replaced by Pavel Suchkov after allowing seven goals on 26 shots. The Subway Super Series continues Monday night in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., with the Russians again facing the OHL. Joe Flacco Womens Jersey . On Tuesday, the 94th day of the labour stoppage, NHL Players Association special counsel Steve Fehr reached out to NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly via a short phone call. But from that contact, there is still nothing scheduled in terms of resuming the stalled bargaining talks. According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com, while its not 100 per cent, its likely that the NHL will cancel more games beforre the end of this week. Torrey Smith Super Bowl Jersey. The last time the league took games off the schedule was on Dec. 10. At that point all games through Dec. 30 were cancelled, with 526 games called off in total along with the Winter Classic and All-Star Game. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman suggested at a press conference on Dec. 6 that a shortened NHL schedule should not be less than 48 games. WATERLOO, Ont. Arthur Jones Jersey . -- Inbee Parks birdie on the 18th hole gave the South Korean a little breathing room with a two-shot lead on Saturday heading into the final round at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic. Ahead by one shot over fellow countrywoman Hee Kyung Seo going into the last hole at Grey Silo Golf Course, the 23-year-old padded her lead with a third round score of 5-under par 66 to sit 14 under for the tournament. Seo and American Brittany Lang both went 4-under on the day to tie for second at 12 under par. "I think I played par 5s really good today; that helped me out a lot," said Park. "There were some more putts out there that I could have made, but I was really happy with the way I hit the ball today and hopefully tomorrow it will be a better putting day." If Park can hang on to the lead Sunday, it will be her first victory on the tour since she became the youngest player to win the U.S. Open at 19 years, 11 months and 17 days. "I havent had a win for a while so it will be nice to win tomorrow," said Park. "But Ill just go out there, just play like today with no expectations. Just play like a normal day." Lang became a surprise contender for the final round after she birdied the 16 and 17th hole, and eagled the 18th after 15 straight pars to start her round. "I hit some good putts and some good shots, but I just couldnt get anything going. I stayed patient and positive and finally hit the birdie on 16 and got some energy," she said. "Its tricky to read the greens out here. You can hit good putts and not make them. But I stayed positive and two awesome shots on 18. Im very happy with that finish." Should Lang win the tournament, shell be the first of 16 Duke University Blue Devils -- a dynasty in womens collegiate golf -- that played on the LPGA tour to have a victory. "That still blows my mind every time I hear it," said Lang. "It would be so cool. I mean, I like to represent my family and my hometown as well, but to do that, that would be amazing." Of course, Seo will have something to say about that. Last seasons Rolex rookie of the year kept pace with Lang after the two were tied for second place at the end of the second round. "It was a great day," Seo said. "I was trying to be patient because I make mistakes. I tried to bounce back and it worked. It was a little bad luck on the 18th hole (a par); its OK." Seo said she is focused on one thing tomorrow. "I dont know how many are behind me, but always a win," said Seo. "I have a few opportunities to win but I lost every time, so if I have a chance to win, I want to." Seo admitted that she was checking out the leaderboard today to see what she had to do to catch up. "Yeah, Im always watching scores," she said with a laugh. Swedens Anna Nordqvist bounced back from a 1-over par 72 in the second round to score 4 under in the third round to take sole possession of fourth place at 10 under par. Americans Sandra Changkija and Nicole Hage -- who also eagled the 18th hole -- as well as Swedens Karin Sjidin and Chinas Shanshan Feng are tied for fifth at 9 under. Five players sit tied for ninth at 8 under, including Americans Stacy Lewis and Lexi Thompson. Leading the five Canadians that made the cut was Quebecs Maude-Aimee Leblanc. The tall, Sherbrooke native shot a third round of 3 under to move to 4-under par for the tournament and into a tie for 26th place. "I struggled a little bit at the beginning, Leblanc said. "I dont know, I just didnt feel comfortable with my driver. I made a bad double on No. 7 that threw me off a bit, but I made a few birdies on the back. Overall, it was a good round. "Ill just go to the range and hit a few drivers, and get my driver good for tomorrow." If Leblanc can get that club working, she can have her best finish of the season. Shes been on a bit of a hot streak recently, finishing in the top 40 in her last two tournaments and she credits that success to her new swing coach Jim McLean. She knows what shell have to do to move up the leaderboard. "Its a pretty easy course," Leblanc said. "Theres a lot of birdie opportunities out there and I just have to take advantage of them." Other Canadians in the field are Isabelle Beisiegel of Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Que., and Hamiltons Alena Sharp tied for 60th at 1 over, Torontos Rebecca Lee-Bentham tied for 67th at 3 over and Charlottetowns Lorie Kane in 76th at 5 over. Ray Lewis White Jersey . Correia gave up two runs and four hits in six innings, helping Pittsburgh beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2 and avoid getting swept at home from the first time since Sept.Irving, TX (Sports Network) - Notre Dame has essentially punched its ticket to Miami, and the release of the penultimate BCS standings on Sunday indicated the winner of the SEC Championship Game will likely join the Fighting Irish in South Beach. Alabama (11-1) and Georgia (11-1) were both No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, in the poll last week and remained in the same positions following blowout wins against rivalry opponents. The pair will square off next Saturday in Atlanta in the SEC title game in what amounts to a de facto national semifinal. The BCS champion has come from the SEC each of the past six years. While the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs still have work to do, the Fighting Irish finished off their 12-0 regular season with a victory at Southern California on Saturday night to stay atop the BCS poll. Notre Dame, which vaulted into the top spot last week thanks to losses by Kansas State and Oregon, is No. 1 in both human polls and in the computers for a near perfect 0.998 BCS average. The Irish are all but assured to play for the national title on Jan. 7 at Sun Life Stadium, where they could meet the reigning champs or the streaking Bulldogs. Alabama had its run as No. 1 stopped as a result of a 29-24 loss to Texas A&;M two weeks ago, but fell just behind the then-unbeatens to stay a threat in the title race. Terrence Cody Jersey. . The Tide rolled over Auburn, 49-0, in the Iron Bowl on Saturday and currently has a 0.924 BCS average. Georgia has not lost since its lone blemish at South Carolina on Oct. 6, a six-game run that includes a pivotal 17-9 win over the Florida Gators, who upended Florida State on Saturday but stayed at the undesirable No. 4 spot despite the computers having them ranked second. The Bulldogs hold a just a 0.003 edge over Florida, and because the Gators cant improve their resume, they will likely be on the outside looking in. However, Florida stands a good chance of vaulting ahead of the SEC championship loser into third place in next weeks poll, which would guarantee the Gators a BCS bowl as an at-large entry. Oregon is currently fifth, followed by Kansas State, LSU, Stanford, Texas A&M and South Carolina. The BCS poll is computed by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive poll, USA Today poll and computer rankings. Since 1998, the top two teams in the poll following the conference title games squared off for the BCS Championship. In two years, a four-team playoff system goes into effect. ' ' '
